Teacher seeks US$10 000 for surgery

Comment & Analysis
A Gokwe-based teacher, Kudakwashe Chirwira is appealing for US$10 000 to undergo an urgent heart operation in India.

Chirwira (39) is suffering from a life-threatening condition known as aortic valve disease, which causes a wheezing sound in his chest.

Professor JA Matenga from the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences said Chirwira’s condition can only be corrected with an open heart surgery.

He suggested that going to India would be cheaper as a similar operation in South Africa would cost anywhere above US$12 000.
