Workers get salary

BY LESLEY WURAYAYIWORKERS in the leather and shoe manufacture, animal skin processing and sports marketing sectors have been awarded a salary increment that will see the least paid employee earning US$48 a week.

According to the Government Gazette published on Friday, the increment will be implemented over two quarters.

The first increment of 11,2% was due in January followed by a 4,5 review in June. Before the increment agreed set in the collective agreement for the leather, skins, footwear, sports equipment and travel goods manufacturing industries, the least paid worker was getting US$41 a week.
