Contrary to the media reports carried by The Standard newspaper that some commissioners on the Anti-Corruption Commission namely Dr Goodwill Shana and Adv Pearl Mugadza were recommended to the commission by MDC-T, the MDC would like to put it on record that the two were, infact, appointed upon the recommendation by our party.
The decision to recommend the two was reached after wide consultations among all stakeholders that were guided by our belief that the commission should only be served by individuals that have demonstrated high levels of integrity and commitment to a just and a fair Zimbabwe.The MDC does not recommend people to various committees basing on political affiliation but strictly on the basis of their capacity.As MDC, we do not doubt the competence of those that we recommended to the Anti-Corruption Commission inasmuch as we wish the commission to carry out its mandate without fear or favour.
