By Brian NkiwanePREMIER Soccer League action bursts into life next weekend with the season opener, the NetOne Charity Shield, when Dynamos and Motor Action clash for the second year running.

The match will be played at the giant National Sports Stadium on March 18.

NetOne spokesperson Rutendo Chabururuka said this year’s sponsorship package will be better than before.

“We are not yet at liberty to unveil the figures, but I can assure you that it will be bigger and better than last year,” Chabururuka said. Figures are set to be released at a press coference to be held on Tuesday.

According to sources, NetOne has poured in close to US$200 000 for this year’s Cup.

Dynamos won the Charity Shield last year after beating Motor Action after a penalty shootout. The two clubs had played to a 2-2 draw.

DeMbare pocketed US$40 000 and Motor Action received US$20 000 while the proceeds from the game were donated to eight charity organisations.

“Like last year, we are going to donate all the proceeds from the Charity Shield to charity organisations that will be identified. We are going to make sure that we do not donate to organisations that benefited last year,” Chabururuka said.

Fans wishing to watch the match from the rest of the ground arena will have to pay US$3 while those wishing to watch the match from Bays 15 to 18 have to pay US$10. VIP will be strictly by invitation.
