PRESENTED with the Assistance of Tribal Soul and The French Community of Belgium, Between The Lines is a contemporary dance piece by Harold George, in collaboration with Tumbuka Dance Company.

Born in Sierra Leone, Harold George is the artistic director of Dunia Dance and Theatre Company in Brussels. Between The Lines is currently Dunia Dance’s main project.

Dunia Dance Theatre sets out to explore the meeting between western and African cultures through a range of artistic disciplines, combining them to create a contemporary dance experience that combines elements of both cultures with beauty, power, technique and expression that leaves audiences breathless.

Harold brings Between The Lines to Zimbabwe with the assistance of Tribal Soul, who work towards creating successful collaborations between artists in Europe and Africa.

In this particular case the collaboration is with Zimbabwe’s very own Tumbuka Dance Company.  Members of the company will be performing Between The Lines at Hifa 2012.Between The Lines explores Ben Okri’s Astonishing The Gods and his meditation on the nature of invisibility.

It involves live on-stage painting, roller-skating, a cube cage of strings on wheels that allow the dancers to express the contours and dynamics of invisibility or being rendered invisible.  This intriguing dance piece has received rave reviews and will delight contemporary dance lovers with its originality and vibrancy.
