Pasuwa wants new signings for DeMbare

BY MICHAEL MADYIRADynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa intends to fortify his squad with experienced players ahead of their Confederations of African Football (CAF) Confederations Cup campaign.

Pasuwa, who is likely to lose some of his key players to foreign clubs when the mid-season transfer window opens on July 1, is already bracing up for the grim possibility.

The Glamour Boys, who endured a painful exit from the Champions League, are set to bring back veteran midfielder Desmond Maringwa who they did not register for this year’s Champions League campaign.

Maringwa, who has been out of action both in the African Safari and the domestic league, has since started training with the club. Dynamos were demoted from the Champions League after  falling 7-1 on aggregate to Tunisian giants Esperance and now face Interclube of Angola in the Confederations Cup group stage qualifying play-offs in July.

Pasuwa is looking forward to beefing up his squad in the mini-league phase of the second tier continental club competition as CAF allow registering of new players at that stage.

The registration coincides with the local premiership’s mid-season transfer window where Pasuwa is also seeking to reinforce his arsenal in DeMbare’s league title defence.

Without revealing the names of his targets, Pasuwa said he needed to add a striker, a playmaker and a winger in his squad.“Of course if we get to the mini-league phase of the Confederations Cup we would sign some new players. We also need to strengthen our squad for the second half of the league campaign. Right now there are some players we are not sure will finish the season with us and if they go somewhere definitely they have to be replaced,” said Pasuwa.

“As everyone can see, we are running short of strikers and we need to have more options in attack. I would also want to have an offensive midfielder, that is someone who plays just behind the strikers. It is also essential for us to look for someone who plays wide on either wing.”

Dynamos are yet to replace attacking midfielder Archford Gutu who left for Sweden at the beginning of this year. The Glamour Boys are most likely to lose star midfielder Denver Mukamba, striker Takesure Chinyama and goalkeeper Washington Arubi who have reportedly attracted the interest of foreign clubs.

Striker Tineyi Chitora who was registered for both the league and CAF club competitions has gone AWOL.
