My Harare Fun Run and Walk a success

Environment
By Rosie MitchellThe Harare Mayor’s Cheer Fund held the second edition of My Harare Fun Run and Walk on Africa Day, starting and ending at the show grounds, with a 10km run and 5km walk, in a morning of fun and exercise for all ages. I was sorry to miss it! Proceeds went to the 86 charity homes supported by the fund.

Mayor Muchadeyi Masunda clearly enjoyed walking the 5km, and with several generous sponsors, great prizes and raffles, it was well-attended and a great success. Olympics-bound Gilbert Mtandiro won the men’s 10km and Muchaneta Gwata, the women’s, and Dorcas Watira, the wheelchair category.

Fun runs and marathons are becoming more and more popular as methods of fund-raising worldwide, also providing enjoyable goal events for fitness training.
