Own CorrespondentAfter successfully hosting the US$30 000 Marange Resources Pro-AM golf tournament, Hillside golf club in Mutare will once again be the host to the Manicaland Amateur golf event set to tee off from June 22 to 24.

Last weekend over 50 professional golfers and amateurs converged in the Eastern border city for the prestigious tournament which was eventually won by Borrowdale Brook-based golfer Greg Bentley who turned pro last year in September.

Hillside Golf Club captain, Martin Nyaundi, said the Marange Resources tournament was a success and attention was now shifted at hosting the Manicaland Amateur Golf tournament.

“l am very happy that we managed to host the Marange Resources event successfully and we are proud about that. They promised to come again next year,’’ he said.

“All attention has shifted to hosting our next event, the Manicaland Amateur Golf tournament penciled for June 22-24. We are still to confirm with Manicaland Golf Union and the Zimbabwe Golf Association who are the organisors of the event as it is likely to be a two-day event.”

“The event is mainly for Manicaland golfers, but amateur golfers from other provinces and cities are allowed to participate since points will be rewarded for them to turn pro,” concluded Nyaundi.
