Speech by  NetOne managing director,  Reward Kangai at the World Blood Donor Day Celebrations, Mutare.

I am glad that today NetOne, the National Blood Services Zimbabwe (NBSZ) and  the world at large commemorate the World Blood Donor Day today on June 14, which is an annual commemoration date set by the United Nations through the World Health Organisation (WHO).

This date is important for NetOne as we stand with the whole world in making sure that there is more blood in the system. NetOne is committed to make sure that there is enough blood for people out there who need it. You never know, you may be the one in need so be the hero and donate blood today and be a regular donor.

NetOne through Easycall, our pre-paid service, has enjoyed a partnership with the National Blood Service Zimbabwe since 2006. Easycall takes social responsibility very seriously, so assisting NBSZ’s efforts to strengthen its capacity to stock up the national blood bank came as a mission to us.

There is a lot that we have achieved together including the Easycall Top Provincial Schools Blood Donation Awards. This year we have great news, each school will get a computer, a printer, a NetOne dongle and data card to enable them to access our internet service, 100 Easycall branded t/shirts, a shield and a certificate.

The  total investment of our donation is valued at US$23 000 which we believe will go a long way in assisting National Blood Services Zimbabwe in their efforts to stock up the blood banks.

Easycall donated to NBSZ two caravans to beef up their mobile blood donor clinic fleet.

Easycall takes blood donation very seriously and encourages every potential blood donor to go and donate blood. There are so many people that need blood in hospitals, new mothers after delivering babies, accident victims, those with various blood illnesses, and patients that would have had an operation, among many others. These unfortunately, are our loved ones as friends or relatives, and above all else they are part of the  great human species. It is therefore critical that our blood banks are always operating at  high capacity and that we are always prepared in cases of  emergency. It therefore gives us at NetOne great pleasure to be associated with World Blood Donor Day as we find it a truly noble initiative. Indeed, the life you save by donating blood might be yours as you could find yourself in a situation that requires blood.

For NetOne to be able to survive and do this and more for National Blood Services Zimbabwe, you simply need to use our service as your valued and trusted mobile network operator. NetOne partnered with Huawei Technologies and Nokia Siemens Networks our equipment vendors to bring you the fastest, most affordable and convenient mobile broadband services. Preparations are underway to launch broadband services in Mutare. I would like to encourage you to remain on NetOne where there is a plethora of exciting services lined up for you. The future is certainly looking bright for NetOne as we continue crafting and offering you services that are relevant at affordable rates.
