UMax adopts baby giraffe

Environment
Mukuvisi Woodlands’ baby giraffe, Max (seen with her parents at Mukuvisi Woodlands — right) was born on November 18 last year, and is being supported by uMax, Zimbabwe’s newest Broadband Internet addition.

As young giraffes need a great deal of care and food support while they are gaining strength, uMax has stepped in to provide for the seven-month old female animal with feed and veterinary needs.

Max’s mother unfortunately weaned her off milk at a very early age, so Max is being given game nuts and vegetables to help her gain weight. Mike Weeden, interim chief executive officer at Dandemutande Investments (Private) Limited, the holding company for the uMax brand, believes it is important for the company to give back to Harare’s community and in this instance, Mukuvisi Woodlands.

“It is vital that we foster sustainable environmental initiatives and help this wonderful wildlife sanctuary in the heart of the city. So many young children and adults alike, are benefiting from experiencing some of the most beautiful game, flora and birdlife, right on our doorstep.”
