DeMbare in tricky fixture against Rangers

By Michael Madyira Dynamos assistant coach Tonderayi Ndiraya said they will employ a cautious approach when they play struggling side Blue Rangers in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Rufaro this afternoon. Dynamos continue their league title defence with what looks like an easy encounter against Rangers who are wallowing at second position from the bottom on log table.

Having upstaged Rangers 6-0 in the reverse fixture last month, Dynamos could be feeling inspired in their chase of log leaders Highlanders.

DeMbare are enjoying a seven-match unbeaten streak which includes three big games against Highlanders, CAPS United and FC Platinum.

But Ndiraya is wary of an upset at the hands of the struggling opponents. “We are well prepared for Rangers but we are not taking them lightly because bottom-placed teams are very difficult to play against. They are fighting for survival which makes this match a real challenge for us,” Ndiraya said.

“The team we are going to face is very much different from the one we played last time because I understand they have a new technical department and they have been busy during the transfer window, so there are a lot of  new players.

It is a new game altogether. We just have to keep on working hard and continue with the right mentality we have.”

But Rangers seem rejuvenated as they go into this afternoon’s battle unbeaten in their last two matches.

Last season they completed a double against Dynamos but are fighting for dear life this term.

Dynamos midfielder Devon Chafa and Zambian striker Derrick Kabwe will again be sidelined by injuries.

Rangers have new coach Patson Ndabambi who has promised baptism of fire for Dynamos.

In other matches, Hardbody will continue with their survival battle when they welcome Monomotapa at Ascot.

In Bulawayo, bottom-placed Quelaton, still smarting from a 7-1 drubbing by Highlanders last week,  will be looking forward to vent their anger on visiting Black Mambas at Luveve to complete the league action for week 17.
