The musician will perform at the Crossline Music Worship festival that ends on Sunday. Saturday  night another American musician Nicole Mullen performed at the festival that also saw a number of local acts taking to the stage.

  Organiser of the festival, Pastor Herman Chimusoro said Smith has promised a good act and encouraged fans to come and worship with the renowned musician.

  “He will be the closing act at the festival and he has promised to give fans a memorable act. He is renowned for outstanding performances and I am sure his fans here will like every moment of the show,” said Chimusoro.

 

  Smith, born on October 7 1957, is an American contemporary Christian musician, who is best known for hit song, Place in this World. Over the years he has primarily featured in the contemporary gospel charts and occasionally in the mainstream charts.

 

  His biggest success in mainstream music was in 1991 when Place in this World rose to number six on the Billboard Hot 100. Smith is a three-time Grammy Award winner, and has earned 40 Dove awards. Over the course of his career, he sold more than 13 million albums and recorded 29 hit songs, 14 gold albums, and five platinum albums.

 

  It will be his first time to perform in the country and fans will be looking forward to an act that matches his colourful profile.
