Black RHINOS (0)1 ZPC Kariba 0
Chipembere are back!Army side Black Rhinos sealed an emotional return to the Premiership next season after edging ZPC Kariba 1-0 in a Zifa Northern region Division One encounter at One Commando Barracks yesterday.
Report by Ranganai Dzotizei
Rhinos endured a prolonged period of Kariba’s sustained resistance, only for striker Martin Mine to head home the goal that propelled his team to the Promised Land with four games to spare.
Rhinos have amassed 62 points, 17 points ahead of second-placed DSTV Rangers, whose result against JMC Academy was still to be known.
It was an all Rhinos show from the first whistle, with Lazarus Muhoni showing glimpses of his predatory instincts on 29 minutes when his flashing header went straight into goalkeeper, Tendai Hove.
Kariba never looked like scoring and all their attacks were dealt with by a fortified Rhinos defence, marshalled by captain Brighton Chandisaita.
Mine might have hit the post on the 50th minutes mark, after being set up by Muhoni, but there was no one to deny him his moment 13 minutes later.
