Priscilla Taurai, the leader of Bulawayo-based Girls La Musica dance group, has critised Beverly Sibanda and fellow raunchy dancer Zoey Norleen Sifelani saying the two dancers’ type of entertainment will not stand the test of time.

Taurai said the duo [Beverley and Zoey] should change their routines because they will soon be outdated.
“That is bubblegum entertainment to be honest,” said Taurai.
“Their routines are too explicit and that does not fit within the confines of our culture. People will soon get fed up and shun them.”
Taurai said dancers should be professional and remain focused.
“I have been a dancer since 2004 and I see girls getting pregnant because of promiscuity and that is not right,” she said. “This trade is all about discipline, but it is a pity these girls get carried away.”
Beverly’s manager, Harpers Mapimhidze said it was unfortunate that Taurai was seeing the issue from that angle.

“Priscilla started dancing a long time ago. She is one of the pioneers of dance groups, but if she cannot accept change then it’s a pity,” said Mapimhidze.
“This is a new flair that has been brought in Zimbabwe by Beverly and Zoey and people like it. Of course she [Taurai] is one of the best in terms of sungura (dances) but we have known that for too long and we need something new.”
StandardLife&Style could not get Zoey’s comment on the issue because her mobilephone was not reachable.
Beverly and Zoey have for the past year been causing ripples on Harare’s nightlife with their erotic routines that include pole and lap dancing.
Recently, the duo was arrested after a local paper published pictures of one of their shows which were viewed by many as soft pornography.
Beverly also courted controversy recently when she introduced the bottle act in her performances.
During the act, she inserts the top part of the bottle into her private parts, which is a clear depiction of a sexual act.
Though it remains to be seen how the girls will fare in the long-run, it is certain that it will always be a turbulent voyage for them.
