Tuku and Mukanya will perform in London on Friday and Leicester on Saturday.

The duo last staged a joint show about two years ago and Zimbabweans in the UK and other international music lovers should be looking forward to the tour.

An official from Tuku Music, which runs Mtukudzi’s affairs, said they were looking forward to an important reunion with their fans in the UK.

“We are looking forward to a good show. Every time we share the stage with Mukanya, people come in droves. It is like going down memory lane because these shows are now rare,” said the official.

Organisers of the show said they put the gig in place to remind people of the good old days, when musicians used to share the stage regularly.

“Every Zimbabwean music lover would be interested in attending such a show. It is rare to have these big names in Zimbabwean music coming together. We hope it will be a big show for the musicians’ fans in the UK,” said one of the organisers.

Tawanda Chiraga of Pamuzinda Highway X-scape said today’s show would be an exciting opportunity for fans of all ages to inspire their icon ahead of the tour.

“He is going to one of the historic tours since he will share the stage with Mapfumo in the United Kingdom,” said Chiraga.

“These are two great Zimbabwean musicians [that are] going to conquer a foreign land. It will be a big international show and I feel Tuku deserves our blessings.

People should come with their families and dance with the superstar before he goes on an international mission. We have pegged the entry fee at US$5 to make it affordable for many people. Children under the age of 12 will attend the gig free of charge.”
