Could Eyahra Mathazia and her estranged husband Daves Guzha be re-uniting?

Report By Silence Charumbira

Yes, but not as far as the matrimonial bliss is concerned.

The duo is teaming up in a forthcoming television comedy series Hoche Koche where they will both feature.

Mathazia has a long history in the arts arena and she is most remembered for her role in the sitcom, Waiters, on ZTV.

She has also featured in numerous theatre productions winning a series of awards at some prestigious eventslike the Edinburgh festival in Scotland.

Guzha, who will produce the comedy, told Standardlife&style that although the film was still work in progress, it would focus on the young people of Zimbabwe.

“Zimbabwe needs to heal and to find its common roots and destiny as envisioned during its struggle for independence. The freedom won was slowly eroded, as well as much of its socio-economic progress,” said Guzha.

“Power was usurped by a small clique. Ethnic tensions and violence have grown. Fear and apathy has become a characteristic of her people.”

Guzha said one of the objectives of the project was to reclaim common history and dreams.

“We believe Hoche Koche, an inter-generational and inter-racial comedy, is the tonic that the country, region, continent and the world at large needs,” said Guzha.

The key actors in the production will consist of different classes and races of Zimbabwe, while relying on the invitation of various people from different walks of life into a shared home.

Guzha said issues of belongingness, interconnectedness and perceptions would all be dealt with in the comedy.

Asked if the partnership with Eyahra was a re-ignition of their romance, Guzha said he has always had a good working relationship with Mathazia.

“We have always had an amazing working relationship and without doubt Eyahra did represent some of the best acting talent in the country and with a desire to reconstitute the dream cast of Waiters which did a lot in terms of merging race relations it is imperative that we go back to that talent” he said.

“This is a purely professional working relationship. I believe it is the return of Eyahra Mathazia the actress!”

Mathazia who will feature in the series will also be the executive producer has won 3 National Arts Merit Awards, Yezi Arts regional theatre festival, the Ngoma Award and an award at the Edinburg Festival among other gongs

She is also an entrepreneur running Empress Entertainment one of the leading upmarket entertainment consultants, Eyahra Beauty Workshop a beauty range and is also a reggae musician.

She recently released a collaboration with DJ GIzzy (real name Gilbert Mupiwa) titled You Told Me.
