The festival recently opened applications for the 2014 edition, giving November 30 as the deadline of application submissions.

The 15th edition of Hifa is expected to run from April 29 to May 4 2014.

Hifa recently announced that next year’s edition would serve to maintain the critical momentum of employment creation that the festival brings.

“Novelties to be expected in the coming edition include the staging of more shows and arts promotion activities in-between the events.

“This will be done as part of Hifa’s fiduciary duty to promote the arts and culture industry in Zimbabwe,” festival organisers noted in a statement.

“Hifa has been supporting individual shows and other festivals in Zimbabwe for many years but will now increase the number of activities staged and supported to the greater benefit of audiences and industry players.”

The organisers also announced they would introduce season tickets for the 2014 edition, as well as begin the rollout of its online booking.

They said they were looking forward to a bigger festival next year.

This year a total of 126 artistes took part in 204 performances at the festival’s numerous stages. About 230 artistes came from abroad while 811 local participants performed at the arts fete.
