Chibuku Road to Fame 2013 winners, Human Life Music Group is set to rebrand after divisions led to a split.

The group will take the name Zim Impact Team after parting ways with the founding leader Lucky Dani who will retain their original name. “There has been bad blood between the original band members and Dani so we decided to part ways and rebrand,” said Colchester Kazunga, the leader of the new outfit.

Efforts to get a comment from Dani were fruitless.

Human Life, born out of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) church in Chinhoyi, included Precious Mayoyo, Patience Nhau, Talent Chaparadza, Peter Choreka, Tapiwa Masango, Edson Gonese, Last Shopo and Tariro Musendo, who are now part of the new outfit.

On a positive note, before the split the group managed to record their debut nine-track album titled Garandichauya.

Speaking to Standardlife&style, Kazunga said the ensemble managed to record its first project using part of the US$4 000 prize money. “We are grateful to Delta Beverages for affording us the opportunity to realise our dream of going into the studio to record,” he said.

“The journey has been long and arduous as financial constraints hampered our earlier efforts to record an album, but with funding provided, it took us only a week.”

The album includes songs such as title track Garandichauya, Ndoenda, Change Address and Israel, among others.

Unfortunately, since its release earlier this year, the album has not received any airplay on national radio stations.

Added Kazunga: “Our songs tackle contemporary issues to do with people’s lives while linking them with the Bible.”
