tk PICTUREThe Big Dog, aka TK, and the lovely MisRed bring you the ultimate breakfast radio experience; and make sure that you Get Up And Do Something! Marc Pozzo brings the sports and Martha Mamombe keeps you up-to-date with the news.

We caught up with the Big Dog early on Thursday morning before he started his show.

For two years now TK has been up each weekday morning at 3AM to prep for the show and is in Studio by 5AM. Working a unique 4 hour radio shift and out of the office by 12PM to commence school run.

If you hadn’t become a DJ and MC , what everyday occupation would you have liked to pursue?

I would have loved to become a television commercials director and lately a farmer. New Farmer. Cellphone farmer, might I add.

Do you get nervous before every show?

Not with radio and I would not call it nervous but butterflies and they used to make me nervous back in the day. But, love it…

Who would you like to host a show with and why?

MisRed cause she is very short… lol

What advice would you give to people wanting to get into the DJ and radio personality space?

Best be yourself and work with material around you, make sure you are well-informed, well-read and researched and a lot of exposure will certainly do you good. Be open-minded and develop your personality… in line with stationality (just had to say that, my ZiFM get the gist)

What did you want to be when you were younger?

A graphic designer

Do eccentric fans get annoying?

have never come across any…

Who inspires you?

I think it’s like the bible, the Word which became man.

You talk a lot about your family and your five children on many of your shows; tell us a little something about your kids: ages, interests

Got 1 boy and 4 girls. They are a bunch of fun and I love them to bits. First is Mmambowethu the boy, smart, gifted and confident.

Stephanie, very girly teenage, also smart and responsible.

Charlotte, turning 13. she is going to be a great businesswoman, she has got hustle. Jessica, 5, is born to shine like a star, she is miss glam. Taniqwa is 3 years old, Taniqwa is… well Taniqwa.

A bully who is very assertive with her needs and opinion. I think she is going to be the ‘Solange’ of the family. She can bring the Rah, rah…

What the biggest radio blunder you have made? Remember this is a family paper.

No blunders. I am perfect. Wink wink…

You have interviewed many people on your Shoe – The Ignition who are some of the favourites?

Bev, Pokello, Makosi, Fungai Proudly Zim, the list is endless. Am still waiting for honourable Supa Mandiwanzira

Your wife, tell us about her.

Beautiful, a real woman and a wonderful mom. Great cook, sometimes I really think I married the perfect one/wife

You worked in South Africa for a while, how was that?

Great exposure and all in all an enthralling experience that has helped to shape the person I am today.

Anything about you that we would be surprised to know?

Mmmm, let me see. I was in the church choir growing up and I sang tenor…
