It, however, remains to be seenwhether his no-nonsense attitude is going to help him achieve the goals that the CAPS united executive has set for him when he sits for a military test against the army side, Buffaloes at the giant National Sports Stadium this afternoon.

Chitembwe, who was appointed CAPS united coach at the beginning of this month — taking over from Mark Mathe — has been given a top-four finish target and the journey begins this afternoon.

Addressing journalists at the club’s Press conference in the capital on Thursday, the coach looked calm, saying he was ready to unleash his survival skills.

He said he was happy with the response of the players during the time they had so far worked together.

“I am happy with the way the players have been applying themselves technically. Our primary objective is to try and improve the team. Winning games is a process and this game is important in the sense that CAPS united is a big team. the coaches and the players carry a huge responsibility.

I will try to improve the team in all aspects — the defence, the midfield and the attack,” he said.

The green Machine are on seventh position on the league table with 30 points — 13 behind log leaders Chicken inn after 21 matches.

Dongo Sawmill, anchoring the 16-member log table, will try and revive their survival hopes when they host Chapungu at Vengere.

Second from bottom are “giant Killers” WhaWha who almost put the final nail on former Highlanders coach Bongani Mafu’s coffin with that 1-0 victory in Gweru.

Mafu was then fired after losing to Chicken inn the following weekend. WhaWha join the short list of clubs that have managed to beat Dynamos in a league match this season, beating the Harare giants 1-0 at Ascot in gweru. They have to work extra hard again this time when they take on title chasing Triangle at the same hunting ground.

The last round of this week’s matches will see tsholotsho FC hosting How Mine in a potentially explosive Bulawayo derby at White City.
