To kickstart its branding, the giant entertainment house last week hosted man of the moment Jah Prayzah and Dendera music maestro Sulumani Chimbetu in a show that was dubbed “The clash of the titans.”

In a recent interview with The Standard Style, The Platinum Bar owner and music promoter, Isau Mupfumi (pictured) said, the rebranding was meant to bring refreshing entertainment offerings.

“We had taken a break from hosting shows as we were busy rebranding. Now we have come up with an excellent package that we feel will change the face of entertainment in Mutare,” said Mupfumi, who is also MP for Dangamvura/Chikanga.

“I feel that the joint had to go through a facelift since I am now MP to reflect a new dispensation in the history of entertainment in Mutare.”

The venue boasts of a state-of-the-art VIP lounge. There is now an extended butchery and a braai section. The stage is well-decorated to give an attractive and refreshed outlook.

Sungura kingpin Alick Macheso and Orchestra Mberikwazvo are next as they are scheduled to perform at the venue on November 6.

“We have lined-up a number of shows by top artistes. We would want to thank and appreciate the support that we have been receiving from our patrons and music fans that have been frequenting our place. We now want to cement this relationship by giving them quality shows,” he said.

The Mutare businessman, who is affectionately known as Chibaba in the entertainment circles, said the festive season had opened and top artistes would be gracing the popular place.

“The festive season is already underway and this marks the beginning of the entertainment season. As we rebrand, we have earmarked the country’s top performers and we want to encourage fans to come in their numbers and get the opportunity to watch their stars in action,” he added.

Besides Macheso, Jah Prayzah and Sulu, some of the musicians lined-up include Zora music star Leonard Karikoga Zhakata, Hosiah Chipanga, Oliver Mtukudzi and Peter Moyo, among others.

Killer T, Soul Jah Love, Seh Calaz, Tocky Vibes and Winky D are some of the dancehall superstars that are also expected to perform at The Platinum Bar.

The venue will also play host to gospel artistes.

“We will be doing family shows that will be graced by gospel artistes. We have received numerous requests from gospel music fans who want to see their favourite gospel artistes and we will cater for them,” Mupfumi said.

Man of the moment in the gospel music arena Togarepi Chivaviro is expected to play at the venue, alongside Blessing Shumba, Charles Charamba, Mathias Mhere and Fungisai Zvakavapano.
