FORMER champions Dynamos finally remembered how to win, with a laboured victory over hosts Tsholotsho in a Castle Premiership encounter at Barbourfields Stadium yesterday.

Dynamos leftback Ocean Mushure converted a first half penalty to secure maximum points for Lloyd Mutasa’s charges, but the DeMbare legend was the first to admit that his charges were outplayed by Tsholotsho.
“We had gone for quite some time without winning and obviously it was always going to be difficult to win. I would like to applaud the Tsholotsho guys for giving their all and the penalty made all the difference for us,” Mutasa said.
Referee Nkosikhona Moyo awarded the penalty to the visitors after Tsholotsho defender Thando Ncube needlessly hauled down Dynamos forward Farai Mupasiri inside the box.
Penalty specialist Mushure stepped up and rifled the spot kick powerfully past Tsholotsho keeper Chang Mariyoni and that goal proved enough for Dynamos to collect maximum points.

Besides the penalty conversion, the first half was a balanced affair as there was little goal-mouth action with play concentrated in the middle of the park.
The introduction of Walter Mukanga for Brett Amidu at the start of the second half brought some creativity to the Dynamos midfield, but the pendulum quickly swung Tsholotsho’s way after the hosts brought in Collins Dhuwa for the ineffective Joel Luphahla.
Tsholotsho could have easily turned the tables on the visitors as they went on to dominate play, but Dhuwa, Simbarashe Gorogodyo, Rodreck “Jecha” Mufudza and Mustafa Ponyera all took turns to fluff good goal-scoring opportunities.
Tsholotsho head coach Lizwe Sweswe admitted after the match that his charges had paid the price for their failure to turn their dominance into goals.
“We lost the match after conceding through the penalty, otherwise we played very well, but could just not take our chances,” Sweswe said.
Dynamos took their points tally to eight and yesterday’s victory was their second of the season, with the first coming in matchday three when they beat Mutare City 2-1.
Mutasa said the win was a morale booster ahead of his team’s clash against Highlanders in their next league encounter.
The former Kiglon, FC Platinum and Hwahwa coach was given five matches to prove his mettle by the Glamour Boys leadership after taking over from sacked Portuguese coach Paulo Jorge Silva.
