“Hatidzoreke means not going back and it’s meant to encourage people, especially youths, not to give in to life’s pressure,” he said.

“The song is off an album titled Oyi, which I was supposed to release this year. However, we have decided to release singles for now so that people get to know them before we come up with the album.

“I believe all these songs that we are releasing are hits in their own way. We all need to hear inspirational songs because there isn’t a person who hasn’t experienced a period of trial and adversity at some point in life.”

The song was produced by Harmony Studios’ Cornelius Muponda, who is popularly known as 3D in music circles. Mokoomba lead guitarist Trust Samende and bass guitarist Enock Piroro of Oliver Mtukudzi’s Blacks Spirits give impetus to the song with their guitar strumming prowess.

The Shaina-hitmaker said he will also release a video of the song.

“I am releasing it together with a video, something I have not done in a while and I hope it will give my fans a smile on their faces. The video was shot in Harare by Moses Matanda of Honde Valley TV,” he said.

Kawara said he had finished recording a number of songs that will be released in batches. He said he was putting final touches to the single and the video before announcing the release dates.

He said his recent trip to the United States was a worthy cause.

“The trip to the US went well although there wasn’t much time. However, we managed to record an audio and a video,” he said.

“We are now working on the editing, mixing and mastering of this single titled Candle, which is about being there for one another.”

The single will be released soon.

The award-winning artist believes collaborations bring unique music because it will be a product of various inputs. “It’s also a great opportunity to learn from each other and grow at some point; that’s how we create connections,” he said.

The musician said he had resumed his shows, popularly known as KuChina, but has changed the venue and is now holding them in Milton Park.

“I have resumed my Thursday shows popularly known as KuChina. It’s a summer treat for all my fans including those who will be coming home for the festive season,” he said.
