Since its inception in 2012 the popular three-star hotel has been going through a modern facelift that is consistent with its vision to be the best hotel and conferencing venue in Mutare and Manicaland province.

Foods and beverages manager Willard Madhombiro said the objective was to attain a four-star status.

He said the major facelift encompassed various aspects of service offering that are up to standard and customer satisfaction.

“The inspectors came recently and made their assessment to grant us a four-star status. They will be coming back to inform us of the outcome,” he said.

Madhombiro said the hotel was going through a number of changes to improve its service offering and conferencing capacity.

“Currently, we are very delighted that we have the largest conferencing and events handling capacity in Manicaland. We continue to listen and strive for unmatched service delivery to all our guests whose valuable support has been crucial in growing the Golden Peacock Villa Hotel brand in the tourism and hospitality industry in Zimbabwe,” he said.

He said they have modernised all the 83 rooms that are comfortably-styled with standard, double, executive and villas. All rooms have latest provisions of air conditioners, LCD screen TVs with DStv, internet, tea and coffee-making facilities.

“We have also refurbished the drive-in that connects the reception shade for the convenience of our guests on arrival and departure as they are now shielded from adverse weather conditions such as rains,” he said.

“We have also spruced up the parking space for our guests by constructing a canopy shade so that their cars are not exposed to the vagaries of weather.

“We have also upgraded the access points to make them user-friendly for the benefit of the paraplegic and other guests with conditions warranting the use of a wheel chair.”

Madhombiro highlighted that the hotel had migrated from manual locks for all the rooms to the most secure electronic card access system, a development that is in line with the global trends in the industry.

“There is an on-going process to upgrade the executive rooms in line with modern trends and to date more progress has been made. The rooms have been furnished with state of the art furniture,” he said.

“We are also in the process of designing a new banqueting room with a capacity of 400 flexible venues for weddings, conferencing and other events so as to expand on our current capacity.”

He said they have enriched the ancillary services such as a good swimming pool, gym and the scenic garden.

Madhombiro said they have also refurbished six conferencing facilities that offer inclusive packages suited for banqueting, seminars, exhibitions, workshops, company functions, cocktails and weddings.

The conference facilities can accommodate from 25 to 400 people.

He indicated that they have also revamped the main restaurant with indoor seating for up to 120 dinners and three other private dining rooms — the Golden Peacock (18 dinners), Huangshan Mount Hall (10 dinners) and the Great Hall (10 dinners).

“We have the popular and world-class Glow Bar that has been stocked with a wide range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for your networking and relaxed convenience retreat after a busy day,” Madhombiro said.

The hotel can also organise group tours upon request to some of the interesting tourism sites in the surrounding areas such as Vumba, Nyanga and Chimanimani. Madhombiro said Golden Peacock Villa Hotel will strive to play a meaningful role in efforts to turnaround the national economy.
