Dynamos will play today’s Premier League home tie against Triangle at Rufaro without Machazane, who is said to be out sick.

It has also emerged that Machazane was ineligible to play for DeMbare since his contract expired on Thursday.

“Marshal’s contract elapsed on Thursday and both parties are trying to reach an agreement but it’s been dragging. I am not sure why the club is taking long to tie down a player who has been playing very well, but that’s the situation now,” a source revealed to Standardsport.

Machazane signed a one year contract with Dynamos during the 2016 mid-season transfer window alongside Takunda Sadiki, whose contract is also understood to have run out.

The defender’s contract situation put other clubs on high alert to make a swoop for the player, with the mid-season window set to close tomorrow.

The former Highlanders defender has been key to the Dynamos revival in the first half of the season and missed the mid-week defeat away to FC Platinum after he fell ill.

Interestingly, Dynamos have not lost a match that Machazane has played since he replaced Elisha Muroyiwa following a defeat to Black Rhinos in mid-May.

Since then, the Glamour Boys went on a nine-match unbeaten run, which finally halted in Zvishavane, ironically after Machazane failed to make the trip.

However, Dynamos president Kenny Mubaiwa said the contracts for both players were ready and Machazane could have played today if he was not ill.

“The contracts are ready, only that I don’t have the details right now but both players are staying at Dynamos. They are key players to us and there is absolutely no problem with regards to their contracts. In fact, Machazane would have played if he had fully recovered,” he said.

Dynamos will be looking to bounce back from a mid-week disappointment in Zvishavane against Taurayi Mangwiro’s Sugar Boys.

The former champions will have to make do without their talismanic midfielder Denver Mukamba, who is suspended for this round of matches.
