A solitary second half strike from Rodwell Chinyengetere was all the miners needed to collect a full set of points.

fc Platinum piled more misery on the struggling army side, who following their loss yesterday have now suffered defeats on the bounce, which has dented their title charge after an impressive start to the season.

For the miners, the win yesterday means they have now won two games on the trot, a result which keeps them in sight of the leading pack.

After the match, FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza was happy with collecting maximum points twice in a row.

“The most important thing was to get the full set of points and I am happy we managed to do that,” he said.

The string of poor results at Black Rhinos has culminated in finger pointing at the army side, with Stanford “Stix” Mtizwa’s assistants, reportedly suspended after accusations that they were allegedly sabotaging their boss. At Mandava, Mtizwa cast a lonely figure on the visitors’ dugout, but he dismissed the reports that the assistant coaches had been suspended.

“They [assistant coaches] had a breakdown on their way to Mandava and they did not manage to come. We are going to meet them on the way back,” Mtizwa said.

On his team’s perfomance, he said: “We played well and managed to contain this Platinum side, but the bad thing is that results are not coming. We will continue working hard to get the points to remain in the league.”
