The gig, which will feature upcoming and seasoned musicians as well as foreign acts, will be held at Harare’s ceremonial home of entertainment — Glamis Arena.

To spice up the event, music lovers will walk away with prizes that include a car a Chevy Spark, mobile phones, laptops, bicycles, televisions and holiday resort vouchers, among others.

The event is segmented into two and the first session — a family gig — kicks off with a battle of sungura which will feature Alick Macheso, Peter Moyo, Somandla Ndebele, Tatenda Pinjisi, Simon Mutambi, Romeo Gasa and Lucky Kumene.

Dendera music exponent Sulumani Chimbetu and upcoming contemporary musician Sam Dondo complete the family day gig line up.

South African hip-hop star Cassper Nyovest will headline the second session, which kicks off at 6pm and will feature Jah Prayzah, Winky D, Soul Jah Love, Freeman, Tehn Diamond, Junior Brown and T Gonz.

“We decided to come up with such a gig because we want to celebrate Impala Car Rental’s 10 year-anniversary in style. This is a unique way of saying thank you to our clients and business partners,” said Impala Car Rental brand-business development manager Tracy Ngoma.

“It’s a fun-filled day that starts at 10am and we have jumping castles and water slides among a lot of entertainment for children.”

Ngoma said Impala Car Rental was working with a number of partners including Nash Paints, NetOne, GTel, Schweppes, Delta Beverages and Econet.

“These partners are coming up with their own prizes and it will be prizes galore as Impala Car Rental will be giving away a grand prize of a car, a Chevy Spark, 10 mobile phones, 10 laptops, 10 bicycles, 10 television sets and 10 holiday resort vouchers,” she said.

“The grand prize will be picked by Cassper and this will happen during the climax of the show. So, we are saying to music lovers, buy your tickets and enjoy the show until it’s over. If you want to win the grand prize, you have to be there.”

Impala Car Rental founder Thompson Dondo is one of a handful of businesspeople in the country who have rallied behind local music. He said the 10th anniversary gig was meant to celebrate his business and the music industry.

“Impala Car Rental has done a lot for the music industry in Zimbabwe and its befitting to celebrate 10 years of its existence with such a gig,” Dondo said.
