All set for fundraising dinner to support neurodiverse families

The event will be graced by the Tourism and Hospitality Industry minister Barbara Rwodzi

The Mothers of Special Heroes Zimbabwe (MOSH) will host a fundraising dinner on Sunday, at Rainbow Towers in Harare, as the organisation intensifies efforts to support families raising children with neurodiverse conditions.

The event, scheduled to run from 7pm to 11pm, is expected to bring together corporates, development partners, and individuals committed to advancing inclusion and support systems for children with conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, ADHD, down syndrome, and other intellectual disabilities.

MOSH said the fundraising dinner is aimed at mobilising resources for programmes that focus on awareness, training, education, community empowerment, and policy advocacy.

In a statement, the organisation emphasised the growing need for structured support for families navigating the daily challenges associated with raising neurodiverse children.

“Let’s support an initiative that is helping millions of families navigating the challenges and daily needs of raising neurodiverse individuals. Together, we can build a more inclusive Zimbabwe,” the organisation said.

To encourage participation, MOSH has unveiled a range of sponsorship packages, including Platinum sponsorship at US$5 000, Gold at US$3 000, and Bronze at US$1 500. Corporate tables are pegged at US$1 000, while individual tickets are going for US$100.

The event will be graced by the Tourism and Hospitality Industry minister Barbara Rwodzi, who is expected to attend as the guest of honour.

She has been recognised for her advocacy on issues affecting people with disabilities.

Organisers say the dinner will not only serve as a fundraising platform, but also as an opportunity to raise awareness and foster dialogue around the inclusion of neurodiverse individuals in Zimbabwean society.

MOSH has called on corporates and members of the public to support the initiative through sponsorship, attendance, and partnerships, stressing that collective effort is key to building sustainable support systems.

“Be part of the movement. Be the change. Support. Sponsor. Attend,” the organisation said.

The fundraising dinner is expected to shine a spotlight on the lived realities of families raising children with special needs while galvanising action towards a more inclusive and supportive environment.
