The gospel music queen says she is filled with passion to re-ignite gospel music through sounds intensified by her character. She described her singing not as a profession, but a calling from God to reach out to many people.

She said her music is reflective of her nature and when she goes on stage to sing, everything comes from her emotions, which she claims makes her unique from other singers.

“I always try and distinguish my sounds by giving my heart, soul and spirit to my music so that every time l sing or someone listens to my music, it reveals my character,” she told The Standard Style recently.

Chikosi-Mapepeta said her latest album was filled with beautiful melodies, which seek to leave the audience mesmerised and to strengthen believers and reassure them that Jesus is the only way.

“In my new album, I tried to reach out to weaker believers, encouraging them that no matter how unbearable your situation seems, there is only one man who can make you sail through and it’s our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ,” she said.

The musician, who now lives in Harare, was born in Mutare in a devoted Christian family. She started singing at a tender age, and when she was 10 years old, she started winning awards at singing competitions at school.

Chikosi-Mapepeta has five albums under her belt and these include Chinyiko, Mwari Vafunga Nezvangu, Zvinogoneka, Kisimusi Yechokwadi and the latest Chikepe.

In Chikepe, she worked with gospel songstress Abigail Mutsvunguma and Redeemed Gospel Choir.
