The song is about the prevailing economic situation that has left many Zimbabweans struggling to make ends meet.

“We have been captured as a nation and as an artist, I saw it necessary to put the prevailing reality into lyricism, maybe to liberate ourselves,” he said.

“My music is determined by my surroundings and the things that I see on a daily basis. Having been exposed to the harsh economic conditions made me reach that far and shaped my lyrical prowess.”

To differentiate his sound so as to make a name in this competitive music industry, Tony Ray has adopted humour in his lyricism.

In a similar fashion to yesteryear rapper Tupac Shakur’s sensational music, Tony Ray’s music is highly charged with emotion.

Meanwhile, Tony Ray has roped in Tally Bee (real name Talent Singe) to give the cutting edge to his other recently released single titled Maitiro Ako.

The single was launched on National FM last week and was produced by Temptation Chirenje aka T Man of Mount Zion Music.
