Steven Mubaya (21) of Paradise, has since approached the High Court seeking bail pending appeal against sentence.

Mubaya was jailed by a Mutoko magistrate alongside his accomplices, Shepherd Mugobhi (29) from Harare’s Avenues and a Malawian national Lingson Nyalugwe (30).

On June 4 2017 on the 230km peg on the Harare-Nyamapanda Highway, police officers stopped a Zebra Kiss bus at a roadblock for a routine search. The trio was found with three rolled packets of dagga in their satchels.

However, Mubaya said he was convicted of the wrong charges of dealing in dangerous drugs while he was only caught in possession of the marijuana.
