The Venue opened in 2012 and had established a core clientele with offerings in conferences, banqueting, celebratory events and musical gigs. Its management decided to expand the facility and closed for several months in late 2017 to allow for an almost doubling of the floor space and to create an enhanced stage and backstage area. Also included in the expansion project was the installation of what are probably Harare’s most sophisticated sound and lighting systems.

Khumalo, a former backing vocalist for the late South African singer Brenda Fassie, will be the main act at the event that will also feature locals Bryan K and DJ Reverb. The relaunch will also feature an early-evening cocktail party for invited guests with music by local band AfriCherry.

The Venue’s general manager HD Fraser confirmed the relaunch party, saying the venue had been refurbished into a world-class facility. “The Venue is now geared for expected increases in all areas of events and conferencing during 2018 and beyond, and what we have tried to do is provide state-of-the-art facilities for a range of activities focused on stylish surroundings, upmarket cuisine and an international-style ambience. The additional space allows for hosting of cocktail events of up to 500 people, shows for up to 350 and conferences for up to 300, depending on configuration,” said Fraser.

Khumalo is a celebrated Mzansi singer who was born and raised in Soweto and found fame at the age of 15 when she started singing professionally. Now 44 years old, Khumalo has appeared in a number of South African television shows and several films and has mentored several rising stars in different fields of endeavour.
