For 42 years, Apostle George Chikohwa has led the way in presiding at large Christian revivals across the globe, but his turning point in the world of evangelism was when he founded the Church on the Rock Ministries International in 1988.

While on February 14 people commit themselves to showing feelings of love, affection and friendship, the Church on the Rock Ministries International family would be celebrating an additional year of Christian service under the guidance and teaching of Apostle Chikohwa and his wife, Rosewittar.

From humble beginnings at New Mabvuku Crèche in 1988, the Church on the Rock Ministries International has turned out to be the “midwife” of global repentance, revival, reformation and transformation of a myriad of people.

In two weeks’ time, all roads lead to the church’s headquarters at Gazaland Shopping Centre, Highfield, for a unique service that unites congregants drawn from across the globe.

The celebrations will run under the theme The Year of Open Heaven, as explained in Acts 10:9-12, which says; “The next day, as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour [a] to pray. And he became hungry and wanted something to eat, but while they were preparing it, he fell into a trance and saw the heavens opened and something like a great sheet descending, being let down by its four corners upon the earth. In it were all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air.”

“It’s an exceptional celebration that marks 31 years of Christian service of the Church on the Rock Ministries International,” Pastor Theos Chikohwa, one of the organisers of the anniversary celebrations, told The Standard Style on Thursday.

“The three-day celebrations embrace the annual Highlife International Leadership Conference which brings together pastors, bishops and apostles of the church coming from different parts of the world.”

Pastor Chikohwa said there would be a potpourri of activities, ranging from the church leadership meeting and teachings, music concert, to jumping castles for kids, counselling sessions, fireworks on the opening and closing night as well as a clean-up exercise.

Apostle Chikohwa has ministered in Africa, Europe, North America and the Oceania, bringing salvation, restoration and hope to thousands through the great gospel of Jesus Christ.

“We are gathering in honour of our shepherd and shepherdess [Apostle George and Bishop Rosewittar Chikohwa] the two servants of God who helped establish the church and planted several ministry assemblies in different countries,” said Jacob Esau one of the deacons in the church.

Apostle Chikohwa (61) and Bishop Rosewittar (59) responded to God’s call when they left one ministry to establish Church on the Rock Ministries International. The two went on an evangelism assignment that saw them globe-trotting ministering the Word.

The unique aspect of the couple is that Apostle Chikohwa lost both parents at the age of four while Bishop Rosewittar was orphaned at the age of 14.

Establishing Church on the Rock Ministries International was not a stroll in the park for the couple but today the church has grown to be one of the biggest ministries on the globe.

“Our father and mother as instructed by God went on a mission to plant ministries all over the world and on February 14, we all congregate for a unique service to celebrate such wonderful work,” said Pastor Chikohwa.
