Afro-fusion musician Sasha Chiedzo, who is simply known as Amadhuve Sasha (pictured below) in music circles, has found a new home — The Usual Place at Jameson Hotel, Harare — where she serenades imbibers every Thursday night.

The jazz musician, who front the super-talented outfit Talking Guitars, has been a revelation at the popular joint where she is backed by wheel spinners DJ Ben and DJ Phiri.

A niece to the late mbira player Edna Chizema, otherwise known as Mbuya Madhuve, Amadhuve Sasha confirmed to Standard Style that she had found a new home in the city.

“I and my band Talking Guitars will be performing live every Thursday at The Usual Place due to public demand,” she said.

“I will be playing my newly-found genre — Zimbabwean Trade Music — plus patrons’ favourite sing-along golden oldies covers.”

The artiste, a former backing vocalist at Progress Chipfumo’s Sound of Motherland outfit, said she was also taking the opportunity to sample songs from her forthcoming project.

“I also perform songs from my forthcoming album and allow patrons to critique so that I perfect the songs before the final product. The album is titled Mutsindo and is coming out next month,” she said.

The 35-year-old singer said she was now ripe and ready to conquer the world on her own considering the lengthy journey she had travelled before going solo.

“I now feel that I have got what it takes to be at the top having shared the stage with almost every big artiste in Zimbabwe. I have learnt my lessons and I am always learning and improving my act,” she said.

Amadhuve Sasha introduced her debut single titled Two-timer at a successful launch ceremony held at Club Las Vegas in May last year. Her music is classified as Afro-fusion with a deep assortment of mbira and marimba.
