Kwekwe-based preacher and self-proclaimed prophet Effort Vakai Maphosa says the issue of compassion has played a pivotal role in his deliverance ministry that has grabbed a lot of media attention.
Maphosa is drawing huge crowds at his church in the Kwekwe industrial area, following the “healing of mental patients in the city”.
“As a minister of the gospel, there is the issue of compassion which plays a huge role in the deliverance work,” Maphosa said.
“What touched my heart was how can the devil afflict people.”
Maphosa cited the issue of Bainos Phiri, who was born with a curse following a family dispute.
The 39-year-old Phiri’s alleged healing from a mental condition he had suffered from the age of five shocked the whole community of Mbizo, in Kwekwe, said the prophet.
The General Overseer of Grace Abound Church (GAC) said the founder of his ministry was Jesus Christ.

Born in 1985 in Kwekwe, Maphosa said he humbly submitted to the will of God to start the work of the Heavenly Father in April 2015.
He said this was after his family was afflicted by the spirit of premature death.
“I was born in a family of 10 members, but we were reduced to five, which only stopped after I received the call of God to use me to deliver not only my life, but that of others, I came to realise that to know Jesus is to experience God’s power,” he said.
Having received Jesus Christ through the ministry of Prophet TB Joshua, Maphosa became an ardent follower of Emmanuel TV and frequented Scoan Nigeria for prayers and spiritual upliftment.
An accountant by profession, Maphosa graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of Zimbabwe and secured employment with the Zimbabwe Power Company as a systems accountant.
