BINDURA University of Science Education is counting its losses after a fire razed down a state- of-the-art gymnasium soon after the restoration of electricity in the town last week.

The university’s spokesperson Thomas Mahundi confirmed the incident that happened on Thursday morning, saying the case was under investigation and they were yet to ascertain the value of the damaged property.

“We have engaged the Criminal Investigation Department’s forensic department to help with investigations,” he said.

“The value is being worked on, damaged is the building and mostly gym equipment, uniforms, Information Communication Technology equipment and a television, it will run into several thousands of dollars.”

The gym was a key component of the National Sports Academy, which was officially launched by its patron, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, last year.
