South Africa-based Zimbabwean film actor and producer Mthulisi Moyo, aka Mahlalela, who last year showed the flipside of his artistic talent by venturing into music has released two singles, which feature on a sungura album to be released at the end of this month.

The singles — Twasa and Goli — are part of a six-track album titled Hazvina Kana that was done by sungura outfit Mbarura Express, fronted by Lovemore Muzondiwa.

Like in dramas under his trade name Mahlalela, Moyo features South African pop star Freddy Gwala and comedian-cum-musician Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima on the track Goli.

“I am featured on Lovemore Muzondiwa and his Mbarura Express project with two singles. The singles are part of the group’s forthcoming album titled Hazvina Kana, which carries six tracks,” Moyo told Standard Style from his Johannesburg base.

The multi-talented artiste made his music debut last year when he featured on the Mbarura Express album titled Zero to Hero with a single titled Umhlaba Ujikile. He featured Gwala on the production.

He described his music and dramas as a reflection of his life and other millions of Zimbabweans staying in foreign lands.

“I sing and act my personal story, which I believe reflects the lives of many people living in foreign countries, particularly here in Johannesburg,” he said.

Moyo, who made headlines when he featured comedian-cum-musician “Kapfupi” and Gwala in one of his dramas, said he was not quitting acting for good.

He said the album, Hazvina Kana like Zero to Hero, would be marketed and distributed by Diamond Studios in Harare. Former Alick Macheso drummer Obert Gomba played the drums on the two singles.
