CHICKEN Inn coach Joey Antipas lamented the loss of their top scorer Clive Augusto, who completed a move to South African side Maritzburg United yesterday, as the Gamecocks’ stuttering form continued after being held by struggling Yadah at Luveve Stadium yesterday.

Antipas confirmed that Augusto, who scored his 14th goal of the season in the loss to ZPC Kariba last week, completed the move to Maritzburg where he joins fellow countryman Gabriel Nyoni.

“Clive was our main source of goals. He is no longer with us. “He has gone to Maritzburg. We will have to learn to play without him,” Antipas said.

Last week the Gamecocks lost to ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga Stadium following a goalless draw against TelOne at Ascot Stadium.

They opened the account yesterday with a perfect header to the near post by Brett Amidu from left-back Xolani Ndlovu’s cross in the 21st minute.

Yadah came back strongly in the second half and restored parity three minutes after the break through veteran striker Ralph Matema, who blasted the ball into the nets from close range under the challenge of goalkeeper Pride Zendera after a Chicken Inn defender failed to make a clearance inside their penalty box.

Antipas was a worried man after another slump yesterday.

“It was a disappointing result again against a team like Yadah especially playing at home. We played well until we scored that goal and just fell flat. In the second half we were out of sorts. Some of our key players were not in it and it looks like we have lost some confidence. We have to pick ourselves up and start doing some positive stuff. It’s two points dropped at home,” he said.

His counterpart Genesis Mangombe was happy with the draw although his side dropped to the bottom of the log. “It was not an easy game. We knew it was going to be a tactical match and we did not want to hold on to the ball for too long. Unfortunately, we failed to defend in the first half. We delayed the pace in the second half after we scored and it worked for us. We have a long way to go, but it is positive playing a draw against Chicken Inn away,” Mangombe said.
