Local gospel musician Phillip Kambare is working on two videos of songs from his recently released album titled Tauya Nerumbidzo.

Kambare made his entrance into the mainstream music scene with the release of the eight-track album at a launch in Harare, which was graced by top gospel artistes and church leaders.

Veteran musician Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, instrumentalist and producer Jonathan Mgazi, Pastor Savison Machetu and gospel songstress Mai Kuvheya were supporting acts.

Mgazi produced the album, which also features Mai Kuvheya on two songs Tomurumbidza and Muponesi Wangu.

Kambare, a congregant at the Kingdom Fire of God Ministries in Harare, on Thursday told Standard Style that he was happy that local fans have embraced his music.

“As someone starting, I am happy with what is happening as far as my album reception is concerned. It’s overwhelming and it is being played across radio stations in the country,” he said.

“I have heard some of the songs on major radio stations like Radio Zimbabwe and Star FM. I hope it will make it on a number of gospel music charts on the radio stations.”

However, the gospel crooner believes his music needs visuals to drive the message home.

“I am working on two videos for the songs Tomurumbidza and Tinokunda, both from my latest album. While most of the songs on the album are doing well, I just picked these two because they have proved to be most popular with fans,” he said.

Kambare said he would shoot the videos from different scenes in and around Zimbabwe.

“I have engaged popular video director and producer Willard ‘Slimaz’ Magombedze. We will shoot the videos from different scenes depending on the theme of the song,” he said.

Kambare, who started singing in school and church choirs, described some of the songs as a reflection of his personal life.
