MUTARE gospel musician Benjamin Chimoyo is eyeing the international market because he believes that his band members now meet the required standards.

Chimoyo and his band — Royal Trumpet — have been performing at shows in the eastern border city.

Recently they managed to put up a splendid performance at a Winter Warmer gig held at Chancellor Primary School in Mutare.

On the sidelines of the gig, which was headlined by seasoned gospel artistes such as Mathias Mhere and Kudzi Nyakudya, among others, Chimoyo said the group was determined to become an international brand as it has young,

talented and energetic members.

He said they were working towards becoming an international brand.

“I formed the group in 2016 and named it Royal Trumpet. Royal is in the sense of the Kingdom of God and a trumpet is a unique instrument used in music. We are trying to portray the uniqueness of our music through the gospel and that the music we are giving to our audience is also unique,” Chimoyo said

“I started the group as a way of creating employment for myself and others and also to preach the Word of God.

“We are working towards an international brand and there are a few things that we need to work on and we will work on the papers later, but l believe we can match the international standard.”

“Our music focuses on peace and we are targeting marginalised members of the society such as orphans, the elderly and women.”

The group has one album titled Royal Message, released in 2017, and several singles. The album has five tracks — Ngwarira Nyoka, Vhula, Baba Ndauyawo, Nyenyedzi and Zvichabuda Pachena.
