Makeup artist Zanele Mazarura (pictured), who runs ZahMaz Makeup and Beauty, a mobile beauty spar believes a woman’s face is her most-prized possession.

She believes every woman should celebrate and edify her beauty by applying makeup before stepping out of her house.

Zana (27) started her makeup business two years ago, after completing a diploma in makeup artistry. She is doing professional, bridal and cultural make up both in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Next year she will launch her own line of makeup and lip kit.

“I am still talking to my distributor and hope that by next year, I would have released my own line of lip kits,” Mazarura told Standard Style.

“It will be launched next year, but I can’t give exact dates for now.

“In the meantime, people need to follow my updates on my social media accounts.”

The 27-year-old beautician believes makeup has different meanings in her life.

“It is a work of art on so many levels, because apart from the glamorous makeup we have for events and weddings, we also have cultural makeup, high-end fashion makeup, makeup for TV and film,” she said.

“It’s a way of expression and communicating with the world through different styles and colour. There are absolutely no limits to it,” she said.

She said makeup does not only make one look more beautiful or prettier, but gives confidence as well.

“Working on someone’s face brings me joy and I tell you, women are invincible when they know they are looking good. They can do and achieve absolutely anything and that is my goal in life,” she said.

“I strongly believe in women empowerment, as a woman one should be financially free and not depend on men.

“I am married, but I believe I should play my part in the family.

“I believe my makeup line would inspire other women to stand on their own.”

Zana has been doubling her business in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

“I have been doing a lot of work in South Africa and I have started building a clientele in Zimbabwe and the response has been good,” she said.

She has worked with notable people in the industry such as Monalisa Chisango, a Zim Achievers Award winner based in South Africa who produced shows like So You Think You Can Dance South Africa, Come Dine with Me SA and My Perfect Wedding Zimbabwe. as well as Rebecca Kano, a motivational speaker and talk show host for South African TV show Rebecca Talks.
