GOSPEL musician Respina Patai, aka Mai Patai, is working on two singles which are set to be released during the Easter holiday.

Mai Patai plucked out the singles from her unreleased album Greater than Grace she did last year after several postponements.

Speaking to Standard Style, Mai Patai, who bounced back on the mainstream music scene when she released her seventh album, titled Punish the Devil, said she realised that not all songs on an album are played on radio, hence her decision to do singles.

“l have realised that fans follow tracks that are played mainly on radio and not the whole album, so as artistes we also have to be flexible and adjust to the needs of our fans,” she said.

Mai Patai said she was proud of her fans who continuously support her even in difficult times, promising to keep on releasing more songs and videos.

“My followers always encourage me to continue releasing more videos and albums because they say they love the message of hope found in my music,” she said.

“As Christians, we have to encourage each other giving ourselves hope about the future.”

She encouraged her fans to keep following her on social media where she posts her progress in music. Her video Anokomborera is accessible on the video-sharing online platform YouTube.

The songstress is studying Theology at Living Waters Theological College in Bulawayo which is taking most of her time.

“I am studying Theology in Bulawayo and it’s a good experience. I encourage other musicians to further their studies in different disciplines so as to have a better understanding of the world of music,” she said.

She said they would take their time before releasing another album.

“We will try to release an album towards year end, that is if God allows. At the moment we are just focusing on singles,” she said.

Meanwhile, Mai Patai said her voice in celebrating International Women’s Month encourages fellow women to rise up and be noticed in societies they live.

“As a mother and daughter, l would like to join the rest of the world in commemorating this month where we are celebrating the achievements of fellow women,” she said.

“I encourage women out there to be strong and never give up in everything they are doing.”
