Local gospel crooner Farai Makandanje, aka Social Doctor, last week released visuals for the song Gabhurona off his second album titled Kufanana NaJesu.

The song, which has proved to be a hit, topping local gospel charts, was plucked off the youthful singer’s eight-track album which also carries tracks such as Jehovha Pindirai, Vauya Baba, Unoda Shoko, Mari, Dai Waramba Uripo, Dzingori Nyasha, which features Blessing Shumba, and Nyarara Kuchema.

“This video of the song Gabhurona marks the beginning of our video projects and we hope to release a new video every six weeks until the year ends,” Social Doctor told Standard Style.

“The video was shot at Laktam Studios and directed by Brighton Magaya.

“Due to the lockdown restrictions, we have decided to make it a studio shoot, not an outdoor one. In these trying times of coronavirus, everyone is affected directly or indirectly including us ministers of the Word of God.”

The businessman-cum-musician said this year has proved to be a different from other years.

“Businesses have to adjust to the new normal and this includes us ministers of the Word of God and musicians,” he said.

“At Social Doctor Music, we have made adjustments to our programme so as to reach out to more people through music and we have resolved that we are no longer going to do an album this year, but do the visuals for most of the songs we did before since most music consumption is now online.

“I would like to encourage my Zimbabwean family and say this is the time we need each other as a nation. This is the time to show love to each other. Let’s support one another in those small ways we can.”

Social Doctor’s debut album titled Munoshamisa was released in 2018 and produced by veteran Lyton Ngolomi at Lyton Studios. The backing vocals were done by gospel diva Bethen Pasinawako-Ngolomi.
