Popular Marondera prophet Echoes Chiore, affectionately known as Madzibaba Echoes (pictured below), has dismissed social media reports on him meeting President Emmerson Mnangagwa, saying it is the work of his detractors.

According to the social media message posted through a South African mobile number, the author claimed that he was Madzibaba Echoes and that he was going to meet Mnangagwa to tell him that he should step down.

The 44-year-old man of the cloth said he is disturbed by the false reports and that his church is now hunting for the source of the message.

“It is quite disturbing to note that some people with sinister agendas are out there spreading falsehoods and tarnishing my image,” Madzibaba Echoes said.

“Some church members in South Africa tried to track down the number, but it is not reachable. I also sent some WhatsApp messages on the same number, but the person behind it was not forthcoming. I am Madzibaba Echoes from Marondera and I did not send such messages.”

The Johanne Masowe Chishanu (Jerusarema) leader, who commands a huge following in the country, said his church rallies behind the leadership of Mnangagwa.

“We are in support of the current leadership because it was chosen by the people and endorsed by God. We always pray for our leaders. If there is a message from God, we have proper channels to communicate through and that is our position,” he said.

Madzibaba Echoes, who hails from Guruve, has since released a video to his sect members and followers refuting the social media message.

In the video, the prophet travelled to Guruve to meet his spiritual fathers who also blasted social media abusers bent on causing alarm and tarnishing leaders’ images.

“The truth always prevails, lies don’t go anywhere. God instilled the truth in me and it will prevail against all odds,” Madzibaba Echoes said.

“I was called to preach the gospel of wisdom to believers, also to pray for the government. I was called to give prophecies on various issues in this nation, and that is all,” he said.
