Born Freddy Manjalima, the pioneer of what grew to be known as street theatre at the turn of the millennium, recorded a snippet explaining his conundrum with a friend he identified as Abel.

“…I am going to his house [and I will] consume poison so that he finds my corpse at his house…” he said in the video, emphasising that it was not a joke.

“…he has stolen my riches, this is why I am asking for help before I react. It is better to give that car to my wife than a stranger.”

In a follow-up interview with Standard Style on Friday, Kapfupi said he had taken to social media for advice as he is out of sorts about the way forward, six months after being conned of his Jaguar under the guise that he would get another vehicle.

He also claimed that the man behind his loss had resorted to insulting him and flaunting that he will not go to jail, whenever he inquires about his side of the deal.

“I did that video to air out my sadness and anger over this issue,” the Juice Card singer said.

“A car is not a small thing like bread that someone can just take and I forget about it.

“I said everything as it came to my mind, including that I would commit suicide because it so painful to me as I worked hard to get that property and cannot just watch while someone enjoys the fruits of my labour.”

Having gone as far as visiting a faith healer for assistance on the matter, Kapfupi revealed that he would, this coming week, report to the police, a process he had been delaying to show leniency to his friend.

“Now the issue is out there, but he has continued to insult me for making it public. I will be reporting him to the police within the next few days because I want him to feel the pain I have been feeling all along,” he said.

Kapfupi, who has not been earning as he did in the first half of the past decade, reportedly fell on hard times financially over the past few years.

Apart from his comedy dramas, Kapfupi, who fronts Orchestra Ndoozvo Band, hogged the limelight for his enchanting music when he released the song Mai Ngaa that earned him a top spot on local charts as well as awards.

He has since struggled to rekindle the flame on both genres of art.
