Dendera musician Sulumani Chimbetu’s claim to be the heir apparent to the Dendera throne will come under scrutiny after the musician dropped his album titled Entanglement yesterday.

The album was launched virtually yesterday and comes barely a few weeks after his uncle Allan Chimbetu dropped his 10-track offering titled Urgent Matter to set a fierce battle for the Dendera throne.

The Chimbetus have been battling for years over the Dendera cathedra since the death of the founders of Dendera music — Simon and Naison.

However, every offspring in the Chimbetu “dynasty” had at some point claimed a stake of the legacy.

For Sulu it had been close to four years since he last released an album. His last was Jamboree released in 2016 and in between he has released singles, including Ndunge.

His latest offering squares him off with his uncle Allan, who is riding high with his third album Urgent Matter, but Sulumani in an interview with Standard Style said there was no stand-off between the two or among the Chimbetu siblings.

“I would categorically put it out there that this album is not meant compete with anyone. We had long planned to release Entanglement sometime this summer, however, with the current global health hazard, our plans constantly changed,” said Sulumani.

“However, we would not go into another year without giving our loyalists something to dance to this festive season.”

The musician said the album was a well-thought-out project accompanied by two masterclass visuals.

“Entanglement is an explosive comeback as I used the four-year hiatus to cultivate and revitalise my craft. The album is laden with tracks inspired by societal issues and rich with both lyrical and instrumental prowess perfected during the brief studio sabbatical,” the musician said.

“We have gone an extra mile to make sure it reaches to each and every fan around the world by embracing the technology changes and adapting to digital music stores like Spotify and iTunes.”

Songs on the album include Fara Nezvako, Pungwe, Chinyenye, Moyo Wangu, Africa, Nguva, Wandirwadzisa, Bvuma Kusara, Kunda Zimbabwe and Moyo Wangu (instrumental).

His discography include Ndomusiya Nani released in 2007, Reverse Deal (2008), Ndomusiya Nani DVD Album ), Non Stop (2010), Syllabus (2012), Syllabus DVD Album (2014), Gunship (2014) and Jamboree (2016).
