The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) has closed its offices in various towns and centres in Mashonaland West after some of its workers tested positive to Covid-19.

In a statement, Zinwa said the affected workers were stationed in Karoi and Mhangura, while a staff member at Magunje Water Supply also has a family member, who tested positive.

“Affected members are now recovering as they are in isolation,’’ said the water authority.

‘‘For the safety of the general public and other staff members, we wish to advise our valued stakeholders and clients that we will temporarily be closing the cashiers’ offices in Karoi, Mhangura, Magunje, Chirundu and Makuti.

“The closure will also allow us to fumigate the offices and to implement other necessary Covid-19 prevention measures. Water supplies to these areas will remain normal.’’

Hurungwe and Kariba were recently put under a strict lockdown following a surge in Covid-19 cases.
