Unheralded gospel musician Gelly Gambara says her music is about finding hope in the face of weariness and finding restoration at the feet of the Almighty.

Mai Gambara, as she is popularly known, recently dropped a 10-track album titled Arise and Shine.

She said she joined the mainstream music scene after getting back-up from fellow congregants.

“My colleagues in church encouraged me to record music as they felt l was gifted with a melodic voice,” Mai Gambara told Standard Style.

Despite making her maiden appearance on the mainstream scene with the album, Mai Gambara has found her music being played on national radio stations.

“I was surprised to hear some of my songs being played on national radio stations. For someone who is just starting, it means a lot to me,” she said.

Mai Gambara considered going into the studio in February and managed to release an album and a single titled I Dominate.

She believes the ten-track album has what it takes to fill in the devotion gap that has been created by the advent of Covid-19.

“The song titled Lord You Deserve All The Praise, pays tribute to the Lord for His mighty acts, while the song Arise and Shine speaks about arising from spiritual depression to a new life and shining with the glory and brilliance of the Lord,” Mai Gambara said.

“The song Clean My Heart is a plea to the Lord where I seek for His salvation while He cleans my heart.

She is working on some videos of songs from the album.
