Kubota: Booming engineering jack of all trades

Kubota Engineering and Foundry (Private) Limited has grown from strength to strength since its establishment in February 2004.

The company was established with the mandate to manufacture industrial and agricultural equipment, and to supply vehicle suspension parts and gearboxes.

It is a family business, owned by Tendai and Chiedza Chigombe, who bought a Japanese company with all its goodwill in 2008.

“The business at that point was mainly known for tractors and generators, which they would sell and service, but the young couple added five departments since their take over, which include foundry, fabrication, farm implements, gear cutting and a machine shop,” Tendai Chigombe, the director said.

Kubota has grown further over the past 14 years and now employs 35 people.

“Our clientele includes mines, farmers, government, the manufacturing industry, individual households, schools, councils and NGOs,” Chigombe said.

“Our new baby is called Kubota Motors, and it services motor vehicles and does panel beating.

“In short, Kubota is a booming engineering jack of many trades!”

Chigombe said they were committed to business and financial growth.

“This will be achieved by engaging in an adventurous, market-driven approach, in order to create a solid, local base of customers,” he said.

“Once this is done, we will focus on expansion into the Southern African region.

“We have already approached organisations that are prepared to sign supply partnerships with Kubota Engineering.”
