18 years behind bars for stock theft

A CHIPINGE magistrate has sentenced 40-year-old Joshua Marimbire to 18 years in prison over four counts of stock theft.

In one of the counts, Marimbire stole four cattle belonging to Genous Dhlovu and drove them to his homestead. When he found out that the complainant was looking for the cattle, he drove them to Save River where he left them unattended. Three of the cattle were recovered while one went missing.

The court also heard that Marimbire stole cattle belonging to John Maphosa, which he slaughtered before selling the meat. He went on to steal three cattle and gave them to Hoyb Junior who sold them.

The complainant received a tip off on the whereabouts of the cattle and teamed up with some villagers and proceeded to the Gudo area where they found the cattle at Davison Kufakwami’s homestead.

Meanwhile,Karoi bus driver Lancelot Jonhera (53) has been fined US$300 for negligent driving leading to a road traffic accident.

He was also prohibited from driving Class 1 vehicles for two years.
